D (Departure) – Day

Just as the Allies stormed the beaches of Normandy, my storming of the hemisphere begins today.

I am on the road! It was a wild day of packing and preparation.

I had not done a whole lot of preparation for the packing, since I have been more focused on the mechanics (and I should admit, the aesthetics) of the bike. I got everything onto the bike, though I did not end with as much space as I would have liked.

I was able to keep Bear from breaking a bottle of champagne across the bow 🙂

Saying goodbye to the other vehicles in the stable

What a day! I’m full of a lot of strange emotions right now. It’s so hard to comprehend the magnitude of what has just begun.

Tomorrow we begin heading north for the graduation of my cousin, Elena, in Norquay, Saskatchewan. I will be travelling in tandem with my parents and grandma. Hopefully they don’t run me ragged!

    1. Thank you! You guys might need to make it to a few more Husker basketball games this year to make up for my absence. 🙂

  1. I’ve been meaning to send you a message since we got back from our vacation. You pulled up at Clingmsn’s Dome on 11/2/17 right next to our Raptor truck. I watched your facial expression as you took your helmet off. Your smile showed the peace and beauty of the mountains you were taking in.

    1. Awesome! You should have said hi! 🙂 I don’t have much of a poker face when it comes to seeing beautiful things. That day was really special.
